B: March 15, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario

David Cronenberg was given a Best Director Genie in 2003 for his film, Spider. His 2005 film, A History of Violence received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for writer Josh Olson. Cronenberg received France’s Légion d’honneur on April 1st, 2009. It is France’s oldest and highest military and civilian distinction. He is pictured with his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards.
