Crown and Anchor is set in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and focuses on a close-knit island community where eye-for-an-eye justice prevails. A singularly straight-edged police officer named James Downey (Michael Rowe) comes home for his mother’s funeral. There, he runs into his small-time-dealer cousin Danny (Matt Wells), with whom he shares an anchor tattoo and more than a few family secrets. Danny is drowning his own trauma with drugs and booze. The two men each begin to unravel as the past returns with violent and tragic consequences. Stephen McHattie was given an Outstanding Performance ACTRA Award in February 2019 for his work in Crown and Anchor. |
