Pierre Curzi has enjoyed success in theatre, film and television since starting his career as an actor in 1969. Almost immediately after graduating from Montréal`s National Theatre School, he landed his first fully professional role at the Théatre du Nouveau Monde. He not only acted in Pouvoir intime and Dans le ventre du dragon, two films from director Yves Simoneau. He also appeared in two Denys Arcand films, Le déclin de l’empire américain, and the sequel, Les invasions barbares. Curzi has been nominated for four Genie Awards for his roles in Maria Chapdelaine (1983), Lucien Brouillard (1983) and Le Déclin de l’empire américain (1986) and he shared a nomination with Yves Simoneau for best screenplay for Pouvoir intime in 1986. Pierre Curzi was elected to Québec’s National Assembly representing the riding of Borduas in the Montérégie region south of Montréal. He served as Parti Québecois critic in culture, communications and language but quit the party to sit as an independent in June of 2011. He is married to actress Marie Tifo.
