Michelle Daides began acting at a very young age and continued studying theatre at a performing arts high school where she became enthralled by writing and directing. She mounted her first play at the Factory Theatre when she was 17. After a short break to attend York University where she received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and French, Daides started her own theatre production company called The Escape Artist Company where she wrote, produced and directed several plays which were mounted for the SummerWorks Festival and The Buddies In Bad Times Theatre. In 2002, while attending Ryerson University’s Film and Television program, her first screenplay, In The Stars was nominated for a Ryerson Film Award. It went on to win the Gold Remi Award and screened at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2006 and at The Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto in 2008. We list her credits as a Director first. |
