Denis McGrath wrote drama, comedy, documentaries, animation and video games. He won a Writers Guild of Canada (WGC) Screenwriting Award for his work on the series Across the River to Motor City, which he also co-created. McGarth was also a producer and/or executive producer with a specialty for genre series like Continuum and Aftermath. Born in New York City, McGrath moved to Toronto and first worked at TVOntario and then City-TV during the early 1990s. After serving as a producer at Space, the cable sci-fi channel, McGrath completed a TV writing program at the Canadian Film Centre. Starting in 2008, McGrath was a councillor at the WGC. According to an article in the Toronto Star, Denis McGrath died of cancer at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. He was 48. |
