B: October 27, 1973 in Rivière-du-Loup, Québec

Sophie Deraspe fell into cinema through visual arts and literature. As both a director and a cinematographer, she worked mostly in documentary before directing her realism-bending first feature length film Missing Victor Pellerin in 2006 which received critical acclaim and screenings around the world. Her film, The Amina Profile will have its world premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival in the World Cinema Documentary Competition. He film Antigone was selected to have its World Premiere in the Contemporary World Cinema section of TIFF 2019.
