Shawn Doyle was born in Wabush, which is in the Labrador area of Newfoundland, but moved to Toronto to study Theatre at York University. He went on to costar in the critically acclaimed series The Eleventh Hour, for which he received the 2002 ACTRA Award for Outstanding Male Performance in a Series. He also received numerous Gemini nominations for his work on that series and on The City, and the mini-series Verdict In Blood. In 2007 Doyle appeared in the acclaimed television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Robber Bride, with Mary Louise Parker, a role for which he was awarded a Gemini for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role. Shawn Doyle played the title of role of Canada’s first Prime Minister, John A. MacDonald in the CBC-TV movie, John A.: Birth of a Country. |
