B: July 20, 1955 in Montréal, Québec

René-Daniel Dubois studied at the National Theatre School and became a prominent playwright and stage director. He is also an actor, script writer, teacher, translator and lecturer. Several of his works have been translated and published in various languages and have played both in Quebec and English Canada, the United States, South America, Europe and Australia. His play Being at Home with Claude was made into a film in 1992. His work has also earned awards and international acclaim. He has written for radio and television and was founding president of the Association québécoise des auteurs dramatiques (Quebec playwrights’ association). He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on March 11, 2005.
