Brendan Fraser’s dad was a Canadian travel executive who moved frequently. As a result the future actor spent time growing up in Ottawa, Indianapolis, Detroit, Seattle, London and Rome. He attended Upper Canada College in Toronto, the Actors’ Conservatory, and the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. He was given the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Actor at the 1997 Seattle International Film Festival for his portrayal of Fletcher McBracken in the 1998 James F. Robinson film Still Breathing. Brendan Fraser maintains dual citizenship in Canada and the United States. He is pictured in a publicity still for the film Extraordinay Measures. He played the role of James Fletcher Chace in the series Trust, starring Donald Sutherland. He has won many awards for his starring role in The Whale including Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Best Actor from the Critics Choice Awards, the Hollywood Critics Association and many more. He was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar®. In August of 2022, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced that Brendan Fraser would be honoured with the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance at the TIFF Tribute Awards. |
