Jean-Léo Gagnon was a leading Quebec character actor who had a long and distinguished career in front of the camera and on stage. From Le Père Chopin in 1945 to Au claire de la lune in 1983, he appeared in the films of some leading Quebec directors, including Denys Arcand (La Maudite Galette, Réjeanne Padovani), Gilles Carle (La Mort d’un bûcheron, La Tête de Normande St-Onge, L’Ange et la femme, Les Plouffe), Michel Brault (Les Ordres), and he was particularly effective as the dying husband in Jean-Pierre Lefebvre’s Les Dernières fiançailles. |
