Ed Gass-Donnelly began directing for the theatre before moving into filmmaking. His short films include Dying Like Ophelia, Pony, Polished, Pink and Sixty Seconds of Regret (2009) as well as numerous music videos. His first feature film, This Beautiful City, premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was nominated for 4 Genie Awards. His second feature, Small Town Murder Songs in 2010 also screened at TIFF. In early 2010 Gass-Donnelly was one of three Canadians (along with Denis Villeneuve and Patrick Lussier) named in Variety Magazine’s “10 Directors to Watch” list. His 93-minute feature Lavender screened at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
