Giant Little Ones is a coming-of-age story about the power of love without labels. Franky (Wiggins) and Ballas (Mann) have been friends since childhood. Stars of the swim team and popular with girls, they live a perfect teenage life – until the night of Franky’s 17th birthday when the two have an unexpected encounter. Ballas starts a rumour about Franky’s sexuality – further fueled by the fact that Franky’s father (Kyle MacLachlan) recently came out as gay. Hickson plays Ballas’s sister, who shares a past with Franky. Maria Bello, who plays Franky’s mother and is an executive producer, wrote the book Whatever… Love Is Love after telling her 12-year-old son that she was in a relationship with a woman. Giant Little Ones was selected for a Special Presentation, its World Premiere, at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Shot in and around Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, this is writer/director Keith Behrman’s 2nd feature film, following the success of his acclaimed debut feature Flower & Garnet. |
