Gina Chiarelli was raised in East Africa by missionary parents and attended boarding school. She wasn’t exposed to movies and television until she moved to Ontario in grade 11. She studied drama in high school and went on to attend The New School of Drama in Toronto. She has been acting steadily ever since and in 1989, moved to Vancouver where she has been working in theatre, film and television since 1991. Her stage work includes roles in A Streetcar Named Desire, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Fever, Frankie & Johnny In the Claire de Lune, Marking Time and Reservations For Two. She is a four time Jessie Richardson Award nominee, winning Best Actress for her performance in Agnes Of God. She was nominated for the 2006 Genie Award for her performance in the feature film, See Grace Fly. The role also won her the 2004 Leo Award, as well as Best Actress at the 2003 Vancouver International Film Festival.
