Interested in singing from an early age, Edmond Hockridge served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II but was assigned to a unit of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) supplying news and entertainment to the troops in Europe. He got to work with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Canadian Band of the Allied Expeditionary Force led by Robert Farnon. It is thought that he worked on some 400 shows for the BBC Forces Network.
