Jean-Simon Chartier

21

Jean-Simon Chartier began his career in advertising, then became a journalist. After travelling through Latin America and Southeast Asia, he decided to become a documentary filmmaker and started the company MC2 Communication Media. The 2012 feature documentary Prix des mots, was released in English as Silence is Gold and followed the twists and turns of judicial proceedings pitting Canadian mining companies Barrick Gold and Banro against author Alain Deneault, his co-writers and publisher Éditions Écosociété, following the 2008 release of the book Noir Canada, which raised troubling questions about the controversial practices of Canadian mining companies in Africa. We list Jean-Simon Chartier’s credits as a Director first.
