John Kapelos, an accomplished actor in both comedy and drama, came to prominence while performing at Chicago’s The Second City. In his eight years at the legendary improvisational theatre he spent three years in the National Touring Company and then opened six Revues in the Resident Company. He was part of Second City’s triumphant off-Broadway return in All’s Well That Ends Well at the legendary Village Gate in 1984. He is usually remembered for his role as Carl, the Janitor in the John Hughes teen classic The Breakfast Club.
