(October 4, 2016 – Toronto, ON) Late yesterday, CBC announced it was bumping some of its Fall 2016 schedule by a week or more. The shift includes the season premiere of one of the network’s most popular shows as well as the debut of the highly anticipated sit-com Kim’s Convenience. The other program affected by the delay is the Season 6 premiere of Mr. D.
The series premiere of the new 30-minute comedy Kim’s Convenience moves from its previously scheduled debut tonight, October 4 at 9 p.m. (9:30NT) to next Tuesday, October 11 at 9 p.m. (9:30NT). Two back-to-back episodes will be broadcast from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. (9:30 to 10:30NT). As a result of this change, the Season 6 premiere of Mr. D, starring Gerry Dee, will now move from Tues. Oct 11 at 9:30 p.m (10NT) to Tues. Oct. 18 at 9:30 p.m (10NT).
Kim’s Convenience stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and is based on the award-winning play by Ins Choi. The new comedy tells the funny, heartfelt story of The Kims, a Korean-Canadian family who run a convenience store in downtown Toronto.
The Rick Mercer Report at 8:00PM and This Hour Has 22 Minutes at 8:30PM are not affected by this change. No reason was given for the changes announced yesterday.
