Allan Kolman

B: in Montréal, Québec

Allan Kolman’s theatrical career began in kindergarten alternating between playing Moses or The Pharaoh in somebody’s rendition of The Bible. From there it was on to summers in Stratford and Nova Scotia and then on to the United States having been awarded a fat scholarship to Yale Drama School. On his return to Canada, Kolman had the distinction of starring in Canada’s most critically acclaimed feature of the time, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, as Irwin, the snooty upscale resort waiter. He was in David Cronenberg’s most controversial feature, They Came From Within, playing Nicholas Tudor, the parasite-retching husband. He has created a niche for himself in the biz playing Russians, and has starred as a Russian in over 70 films and TV shows. Equally adept behind the camera, Allan Kolman also works as a photographer shooting portraits, landscape, children, dogs, insects, and microorganisms. He retired from acting in 2012.
