Marcel Lévesque (Gilbert Sicotte) is a car salesman who operates by the rules of a bygone era. Famous for his sweet talk he has lived to become an endangered species, the salesman who learned his craft by telling stories, or “fibs covered with flowers,” as he might say. He knows how to turn on the charm to make his quota and he has been the best seller of the month for over 16 years. But the increasing decline of his fading industrial town threatens to plummet this peddler of dreams into an unfriendly reality and the end of his career, yet he lives for his next sale.. Shot in the Saguenay region of Québec on a budget of less than 3-million dollars, Le vendeur is the first feature-length film for writer-director Sébastien Pilote. The film was selected to screen in the World Drama competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. |
