Letterkenny began as the YouTube webseries Letterkenny Problems. The Canadian movie channel Crave became interested in it and in 2015 it became the first original series commissioned by the digital network. It also aired on The Comedy Network, which is another channel owned by Bell Media. Letterkenny stars program creator Jared Keeso as Wayne and Nathan Dales as Daryl, two friends living in the small town of Letterkenny, Ontario, roughly based on Keeso’s hometown of Listowel, but filmed in Sudbury, Ontario. The character of “Squirrely” Dan was created for the TV series. Letterkenny won a 2017 Canadian Screen Award for Best Comedy Series. In the United States, Letterkenny is seen on the Hulu streaming service.

In addition to the regular 6-episode seasons, Letterkinney TV specials were also produced in 2017, 2018, and 2019 (so far).
