Pierre and Elisabeth have recently become parents and decide to rent a lakeside cottage to take advantage of their first summer as a family. Everyday life quickly revolves around the baby. While Pierre commutes to work in the city, Elisabeth takes care of the child, with help from her mother-in-law Louise (Ginette Morin) who lives in the neighbouring cottage. Despite the beauty of the place, Elisabeth feels isolated and has trouble coping with her new role as a mother. She soon feels overwhelmed by the crushing responsibility. Between Pierre’s comings and goings, and the hospitality of well-meaning neighbours, Elisabeth struggles to find the serenity she so wanted with her child. Only the presence of Naomi (Marilou Longpré Pilon), a young girl on vacation in the area, draws her out of her isolation. Caught up in conflicting emotions, Elisabeth feels dispossessed of herself and her child. Moved by instinct alone, she confronts the mystery of her own truth.

Lost Song received the Best Canadian Film Award at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival.
