Catherine Martin studied Fine Arts (Film Production) at Montreal’s Concordia University, then worked as an editor. She began writing, directing and producing her own short and medium-length films in the mid-1980s. Her 1998 documentary, Les Dames du 9e, won the AQCC-Telefilm Canada prize.
