Rachel Anne McAdams enjoyed being in the spotlight from an early age and entered the world of competitive skating when she was just four years old. Although she would remain on the ice well into her teens, the constant competition played havoc with her nerves and she began to look to the stage as an outlet for her creativity. Beginning in summer theatre camp at the age of 13, her smooth handling of Shakespeare eventually led her to enroll in theatre studies at York University. McAdams played a Ventura County Sheriff named Ani Bezzerides in the 2015 installment of the series True Detective. Fellow Canadian Taylor Kitsch also had a role in the series. In January 2016 Rachel McAdams was nominated for an Academy Award® in the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in the feature, Spotlight. The film was given the Cast Award by the Screen Actors Guild. She plays Dr. Christine Palmer in the Doctor Strange movies. Also see: A biography about Rachel McAdams. |
