Thomas Berger, a Swiss policeman, is on his way to the airport after a three-month stay at Lac Simon in Abitibi, Québec. Informed of the death of an aboriginal teenager who was riding his bike when he was hit by a trucker who failed to stop, Berger postpones his departure. Dealing with his own guilt over a terrible crime, he promises the boy’s mother that he will find the truck driver and bring him back to the reserve. The boy’s mother keeps the body of her son in her house, refusing to allow a funeral to take place until the murderer has asked for forgiveness. When an autopsy reveals that the young cyclist was intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, his uncle, riddled with remorse for letting him ride on the road, decides to help in the hunt for the trucker.

Miséricorde is a Switzerland-Canada co-production. It had its North American Premiere at the Festival international du cinéma en Abitibi-Temiscamingue in November of 2016.
