On his Twitter account, Cory Monteith once described himself as “tall, awkward, canadian, actor, drummer, person.” Monteith held a number of different jobs after dropping out of school before starting his acting career in Vancouver. He is best known for playing the role of Finn Hudson on the TV series, Glee and was among a handful of Glee actors who remained with the series as their characters graduated high school and moved into life after school. In his far too short life he faced what seemed like continuous battles with addiction issues. In a 2011 interview he let it be known that he had first entered rehab for substance abuse when he was 19. At the time, the actor said he hoped being honest about his struggle would help others. Earlier this year, Monteith admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction and asked for privacy as he took steps toward recovery.Monteith was found dead in his room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel on Vancouver`s waterfront around noon Saturday. According to Deputy Police Chief Doug Lepard, there was no indication of foul play. Monteith`s body was found by hotel staff after he missed his check-out time. It was revealed three days after his death that his passing had been caused by a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin. |
