Based on the autobiographical
book by Joanna Smith Rakoff and set in New York City in the late ‘90s, Joanna is played by Margaret Qualley (pictured above), a young aspiring writer who lands a day job at renowned author J.D. Salinger’s literary agency. While her eccentric, old-fashioned boss Margaret tasks her to process Salinger’s voluminous fan mail, Joanna struggles to find her own voice. My Salinger Year is writer-director Philippe Falardeau’s third feature in English.
