Pierre Brunet and his sister Catou are two children who live at the orphanage in Chicoutimi, Québec. They are also faithful and devoted fans of the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club. One day when Pierre goes to buy flowers, he overhears the shopkeeper talking to a man about a plot to smuggle diamonds into the United States. Pierre`s eyes open wide as he hears how a certain Mr Belletete and the bumbling florist Napoleon discuss the details of how they will first get a puck full of diamonds from a jeweler in Quebec City, slip it into a Montreal Canadiens equipment bag and then retrieve it at the next hockey game in the United States. Stowing away in the sumgglers’ flower truck on its way to Quebec City, Pierre and Catou are discovered, but they manage to escape into the woods. Aided by a bush pilot who conveniently gives them a ride in his rattle-trap plane, the kids track down the million dollar puck seconds before the smugglers arrive. There is a chase through the crowded streets of Quebec City at Carnival Time and after a series of close calls, the adventure moves to the home of the Canadiens, the legendary Montreal Forum where a game is underway. The final confrontation comes in the third period when the bungling smugglers, the Montreal Canadiens, and Pierre and Catou are all involved as the million dollar hockey puck is flung onto the ice. The above still is scanned from an original black and white set in the Northernstars Collection. |
