Vincenzo Natali moved with his family to Toronto when he was one. He attended the film programme at Ryerson University and made his directing debut in 1997 when he was approached to helm Cube. The film was successful financially and broke box office records for a Canadian film. At the 19th Genie Awards, Cube received five nominations including for Best Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Editing. It won the award for Best Canadian First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival. |
