Filippe Falardeau is an awardwinning screenwriter and director He studied political science at the University of Ottawa before travelling around the world making twenty short films He cowrote and was assistant director with Jacques Godbouts iLe Sort de lAmriquei after which he directed his own documentary iPt chinoisi His first feature film iLa Moiti gauche du frigoi won Best Canadian First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival and a Best Screenplay nomination at the Quebecbased Jutra Awards His 2006 film iCongoramai just about swept the prestigious a hrefcanadianfilmawardsjutrasJutra Awardsa emMonsieur Lazharem which was nominated for an Academy Award won six a hrefcanadianfilmawardsgeniesGenie Awardsa in March of 2012 including Best Picture Best Director Best Adapted Screenplay Best Actor Best Supporting Actress and Best Editingbrbrbr
