Winston Rekert won 2 Gemini Awards and had been nominated for nine others in his long and successful career. He won for his work in Blue Murder in 2003 in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Guest Role in a Dramatic Series. He also won for Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Continuing Dramatic Role for the TV Series Adderly in 1987. His career spanned more than 40 years in theatre, television and film. Best known for his work in Neon Rider, a drama centred around a ranch for troubled kids, Winston Rekert was 63 when he died of cancer at his home in Vancouver.
