Based on Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire`s award-winning book, Shake Hands With The Devil is an historical drama that focuses on Dalaire`s experiences as the leader of a 1994 U.N. peacekeeping mission to Rwanda that failed to prevent a massive act of genocide in which 800,000 Rwandans were brutally slaughtered. Filmed in Rwanda using many of the actual locations described in the book, and in Halifax, Shake Hands With The Devil stars Roy Dupuis as Dallaire, and Deborah Kara Unger as one of the few journalists who remained in Rwanda after the genocide began.
