Sharkwater Extinction was shot in West Africa, Spain, Panama, Costa Rica, France and Canada and is director Rob Stewart’s third and final film devoted to teaching its viewers that sharks are not our enemy, we are the enemy to the sharks and we are driving the species toward extinction. The film, like his previous documentaries, centres on the underworld of the pirate fishing trade to expose a multi-billion dollar industry. Shark finning is still rampant, with shark fin soup still being consumed on an enormous scale. Sharkwater Extinction is a thrilling, action-packed, hard-nosed exposé of the massive illegal shark fin industry and the political corruption behind it, a conspiracy that is leading to the extinction of sharks. Rob Stewart died making this film. Also see: Remembering Rob Stewart. |
