In addition to his work in film and television, Joe, or Joe-Norman Shaw is a highly accomplished actor and director for the stage. With an MFA in Directing from the University of Calgary and an Honours BA in Acting and Directing from the University of Guelph, he is devoted to his work as Artistic Director of the Rogues Theatre and the Company of Rogues Actors Studio in Calgary, Alberta. Born in Indiana, Shaw moved to Canada when he was 15 and has lived in Canada ever since. He began his career on stage in 1981 and first worked in film for the 1985 documentary, No Sad Songs. His theatre credits include the Phoenix Theatre in Edmonton, the Stratford Festival in Ontario, the Touchstone Theatre in Vancouver and many others. Of particular note is Shaw’s appearance as Robert in the critically acclaimed Crow’s Theatre production of Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love which played in Toronto, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa as well as in Montreal and Mexico City.
