Scott Smith holds degrees in both Fine Arts (Film) and Business Administration (Marketing) from British Columbia’s Simon Fraser University. In 1995 his fourth year award-winning thesis short film Building Fences earned him an invite to attend Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre as a Director Resident. While there, he wrote and directed his second short film …Sshhh. Shown at several international festivals, it won the prize for Best Short Film at the Karlovy Vary Festival in Czechoslovakia and in 1997, it was nominated for a Genie Award for Best Live Action Short. His first feature was the 1999 film, Rollercoaster. His 2003 film, Falling Angels, is based on a novel by Barbara Gowdy. |
