Sophie Dupuis is a director and screenwriter from Val-d’Or, Quebec. She is one of the major figures in the new generation of Quebec filmmakers that emerged after the year 2000. She has directed several short fiction films which have won awards at festivals both in Quebec and elsewhere. Chien de garde started out as Toujours ensemble and is titled Family First in English. Chien de garde is Dupuis’ first feature length film. It was nominated for eight Prix Iris awards in 2018 and won three. Her 2020 film, Souterrain (Underground), was 1 of 5 films nominated for Best Motion Picture for the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards.
