B: September 9, 1959 in Snow Lake, Manitoba

Brent Stait grew up in The Pas and in Flin Flon, Manitoba and like most young Canadian boys he spent most of his spare time playing hockey. At 18 he went to work in the mines for the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. A year later he spent a summer at the Banff School of Fine Arts and then moved to Toronto to study acting at the Ryerson Theatre School. After Ryerson, he worked at the Stratford Festival spending three years there performing and perfecting his craft. He still performs on stage when he isn’t working in film or television. He is the recipient of a Leo Award for Best actor in a guest starring role, a Tyrone Guthrie award from Stratford and was nominated for a Genie Award for best supporting actor in a mini-series or film. Brent Stait plays Tunnelman Jakes Carter in the series Snowpiercer.
