Based on John Buell’s 1959 novel of the same name, and starring Karen Black and Christopher Plummer, The Pyx follows Montreal police detective Sgt. Jim Henderson (Plummer), tries to unravel the mystery behind the death of a heroin-addicted prostitute (Black) who died under bizarre circumstances after falling from a high rise apartment building. His investigation uncovers evidence pointing to the existence of a murderous devil cult in Montréal, where the film was shot.

The Pyx was also released as The Hooker Cult Murders and La Lunule.
