90 minutes – Comedy, Satire
Release date: September 10, 2013
Canadian distributor: Knost Films Inc
The titular Dick Knost is intelligent but lazy. He is also conceited, prickly, acerbic and chronically impulsive. Almost the perfect ingredients if someone wants to be a sports talk show host, which fortunately he is. Unfortunately, Dick faces two major catastrophes. First an inappropriate series of tweets causes public outrage and, later, an ironic injury; after dismissing the danger of concussions in hockey, he suffers a series of concussions himself. The result? His job hanging by a thread. On the verge of losing not just his job and friends, but his identity, it’s up to Knost’s long suffering producer (Gabrielle Rose) to save both their livelihoods—by any means necessary The Dick Knost Show was named Best BC Film at the 2013 Vancouver International Film Festival. The award includes a $10,000 development bursary and $10,000 credit for editing services provided by the Harold Greenburg Fund and Finale Editworks. |
