The Statement (2003)

;The Statement; The Statement is a contemporary political thriller based on the novel by Brian Moore. It shines a light on some of the darkest corners of the religious and political establishment of France. Set in the modern day, it is the story of Pierre Brossard who more than 50 years ago acted as a Nazi executioner under the Vichy regime and was responsible for the deaths of several Jews. His quiet, virtually anonymous life in the south of France is destroyed when a new French government launches an investigation into his activities. He quickly learns that things have changed. Even those who once saved him are now prepared to set him up as a sacrifice, as he becomes the target of police, assassins from a vigilante organization of Holocaust avengers and a famous Nazi hunter, played by Tilda Swinton.
