Thyrone Tommy is a writer-producer-director known for his short films, including Mariner, which screened at the Toronto International Fulm Festival (TIFF) in 2016. He made his feature debut with the 2021 film Learn to Swim, which was co-written with Marni Van Dyk and based on his own experiences with love and loss, and the guilt and grief. His short, Draft Day, is 1 of 5 films produced through and undertaking by The National Basketball Association (NBA), the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), and TIFF. A short film programme titled “NBA Films For Fans created with OLG,” features five Canadian filmmakers and basketball fans and was designed to celebrate Canada’s connection to the game in conjunction with the NBA’s 75th Anniversary season. Tommy’s Draft Day should not be confused with the 2014 Ivan Reitman film with the same title but set in the world of the National Football League. We list Thyrone Tommy’s credits as a Director first.
