Based on the novel of the same title by Rupert Holmes, the film tells the story of Karen O’Connor, a vivacious, free-spirited young journalist known for her penetrating celebrity interviews. For her latest project she has decided to see if she can uncover a great show business mystery. The mystery centres on the breakup of a renowned entertainment duo – handsome singer Vince Collins and nutty comic Lanny Morris. If you’re thinking Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis you’re supposed to, but keep in mind this is fiction. Seems like way back when, the duo returned to their hotel room one night only to find a dead girl in their suite. Is it possible the truth behind the events leading up to her death is the reason why the two partners were driven apart? And does that truth mean one of them may have played a part in the murder? As Karen investigates her story she meets both men and is drawn to both of them discovering more about each of them than she possibly ever wanted to know. Made for an estimated $25 million, Where the Truth Lies made $3.5 million at the box office. |
