Sandy Wilson began writing, producing and directing films in 1969. Her first feature, My American Cousin launched her career when it became an instant hit with critics, festival goers and audiences from Toronto to Moscow, Rio de Janerio, and Hong Kong. It scored a major victory at the 1986 Genie Awards when it walked away with 6 Genies, including best picture. The film went on to enjoy worldwide release. Wilson`s success came quickly, earning her awards and distinctions such as Chatelaine Magazine`s “Woman of the Year Award” in 1987.
