A typical day at the carpet factory: trying out new samples, flirting with the secretary, reprimanding employees about their hygiene, masturbating. Tom is a man whose addition to pornography is gradually closing him off from the women in his life. This working day is intercut with a reconstructed stag loop from the early 1960s title The Bellboy and the Bored Housewife as the now-elderly star reminisces about her experiences in the sex trade. Don McKellar’s first film as a director, it should not be confused with either Derek Jarman’s or Krzysztof Kieslowski’s film of the same name. |
