CBC Renews Baroness Von Sketch

CBC Renews Baroness Von Sketch

(August 24, 2018 – Toronto, ON) It began as a 6-episode mini-series that originating network CBC described as “a comedic look at our narcissistic contemporary culture.” As unlikely as it may have seemed, the Baroness Von Sketch Show became a hit, a TV sensation, so it came as no surprise to us when CBC announced a new season of the show yesterday. The 4th season of the series will see the production of 10 30-minute episodes by Frantic Films.

“We are so proud to be home to Baroness von Sketch Show,” said Sally Catto, general manager, programming, CBC. “It’s intelligent, insightful and ridiculously funny and I look forward to seeing what the brilliant Baronesses have in store for Season 4.”

Pictured above at the Canadian Screen Awards earlier this year, the series has picked up 15 nominations and 10 wins to date, including Canadian Screen Awards for Best Sketch Comedy Program or Series (2017, 2018), Best Writing, Variety or Sketch Comedy (2018) and Best Performance, Sketch Comedy (2018) for the ensemble. Additional award wins include a 2018 ACTRA Toronto Award for Outstanding Performance – Ensemble and a 2018 Canadian Comedy Award for Best TV Show.

“We are excited to continue working with our partners at CBC and with the incredibly talented Baronesses,” said Jamie Brown, CEO/Executive Producer, Frantic Films.

Created by and starring Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen, the new season will begin production in Toronto this September for launch on CBC in 2019. The series is also broadcast on IFC in the U.S. Season 3 will premiere on IFC on Thursday, November 8 at 9 p.m., with IFC also picking up Season 4 for U.S. audiences in 2019.
