David Bezmozgis

strongBstrongorn in Riga Latvia in the former Soviet Union David Bezmozgis was raised in Toronto In 2004 his first book emNatasha and Other Storiesem was published to wide acclaim and subsequently translated in a dozen languages It won the Toronto Book Award and the Commonwealth Writers Prize for First Book His fiction has appeared in The New Yorker Harpers Zoetrope AllStory as well as The Best American Short Stories 2005 and 2006 He holds a BA in English from McGill University in Montreal and an MFA in production from USC His thesis film the documentary emL A Mohelem 1999 played at numerous festivals around the world and was included in KCETs Fine Cut Series of the best student films in Los Angeles In 2006 Bezmozgis attended the Sundance Screenwriting Lab where he developed the script for emVictoria Dayem
