Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2 is Golden

(March 7. 2016) The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has announced that the 2016 Cineplex Golden Screen Award for Feature Film will be presented to the Québec comedy, Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2, produced by Christian Larouche and directed by Jean-François Pouliot. The Cineplex Golden Screen Award for Feature Film (previously called The Cineplex Golden Reel Award) has been presented annually by the Academy since 1976 to the Canadian film that earns the highest domestic box office of its year. Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2 earned $2,882,738.00 nationwide. This marks the second consecutive year Pouliot has directed the Cineplex Golden Screen Award-winning film.

“Jean-François Pouliot knows the secret to making box office hits!” said Academy Chair Martin Katz. “Our sincere congratulations to Jean-François and the film’s Canadian distributor, Les Films Christal, on the success of this film.”

In this sequel to the 2007 Genie Awards’ Golden Reel Award winner, Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2 sees brothers Rémi (Paul Doucet), Mathieu (Patrice Robitaille) and Christian (Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge) return to the big-screen nine years after the events of the original film still struggling with their unbridled libidos. Despite their different lifestyles, the three brothers try to help one another in order to create the united family that their mother would have liked for them.

Les 3 P’tits Cochons 2 is distributed by Les Films Christal.

Previous winners include Snowtime, directed by Jean-François Pouliot, and Pompeii directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The Canadian Screen AZwards get underway tonight in Toronto. The Broadcast Gala will be live on CBC from Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 8 pm (9 pm AT; 9:30 pm NT).
