B: 1969 in Windsor, Ontario

Matt Gallagher graduated from the University of Windsor and worked for the next few years in Halifax, directing episodes of the teen-themed newsmagazine show Street Cents. In 2000, he made his first documentary, Cass, about his uncle’s life in the Cass Corridor, a downtrodden area of Detroit. His 2015 film How to Prepare For Prison had its World Premiere at the 2016 Hot Docs Canadian International Film Festival.
