Scanners are men and women born with incredible telepathic and telekinetic powers. There are many who exercise the benefits of their special gifts in a safe and judicious manner. A private security firm, ConSec, wishes to deploy “scanners” and holds a demonstration of their powers. When ConSec’s scanner turns his attention to a volunteer, it quickly becomes apparent that the volunteer is a far more powerful scanner, who causes the ConSec scanner’s head to explode, via hydrostatic shock from biopathically-increased blood pressure. When ConSec officials attempt to take the “volunteer” into custody, he kills them and escapes. Stung by this embarrassing experience, ConSec security head Braedon Keller advocates shutting down ConSec’s scanner research program. However, there is a group of renegade scanners who plan to create a race that will rule the world. The film’s focus is on an attempt by Darryl Revok (Michael Ironside), a renegade scanner, to wage a war against ConSec. Another scanner, Cameron Vale (Stephen Lack), is dispatched by ConSec to stop Revok. |
