Todor Kobakov is pictured at the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards holding his award for his work on the Clement Virgo feature, Brother. Born in Bulgaria into a family of bass playing musicians, he started piano lessons when he was still quite young and grew up to be accepted into the prestigious Lyubomir Pipkov music school. He played in a band called The Street Boys and then headed to Canada and the University of Toronto. Later, as a professional composer, he created music for TV commercials which led to his first chance to write the score for a film. According to his website, his dog Hugo is his biggest inspiration.
