Set in the state of Minnesota in 1983, Joel (Evan Marsh), a caustic film critic for a national horror magazine, has a major crush on his roommate, Sarah (Amber Goldfarb). One night he sees her being dropped off by her new boyfriend Bob. Jealous of Bob and wanting to learn more about Sarah, Joel follows Bob to a restaurant where they end up drinking together at the bar. Boyfriend Bob has no idea who Joel is and spews out a diatribe against Sarah, then sticks Joel with the bar tab. Joel eventually passes out in a supply closet in the restaurant and when he comes to, makes his way back to the dining room and into a 12-step self-help meeting for serial killers. Knowing he shouldn’t be there, Joel attempts to blend in with his homicidal surroundings or risk becoming the next victim.
